Why can't I register?+
To prevent abuse, registration is limited to an email domain whitelist. Only addresses from these domains are accepted: gmail.com, outlook.com, outlook.es, hotmail.com, yahoo.com, icloud.com, privaterelay.appleid.com, proton.me, protonmail.com, msn.com, msn.cn, qq.com, 163.com, 126.com, foxmail.com, yeah.net, 139.com, sina.com, sina.cn, 189.cn, and umivpn.com. If your email domain is not listed, please use a supported email or contact us.
Why can't I use Gemini?+
Most of our servers can access Gemini without issues, but some of them might have. When you met issues, please select another server or add "google" to the "Block VPN websites" as shown in the image below. Then clear browser cache or switch to another browser, and try again.
Why can't I access ChatGPT when using Hong Kong servers?+
ChatGPT is not supported in Hong Kong. Switch to another server. If the problem persists, it is usually due to browser cache — opening a new browser window should fix it.
Does ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok, or Muse use my free data quota?+
No. Traffic to listed AI domains is unmetered (FakeDNS must be on; it is by default). Other sites still count. See the unmetered AI page for the full domain list, or contact us to request more sites.
What do I get as a gift after purchasing a plan for three months?+
You get Pro membership of another app: VX Proxy Client. VX Proxy Client is software similar to Shadowrocket/Clash/V2rayN — fully open source and free. Pro adds a few cloud features over the free version, such as cloud backup. Website: https://vx.5vnetwork.com.
Why is my data 0 even though I haven't used it?+
Only the first account can use the Free plan. Data for later accounts will be zeroed and they cannot use the Free plan. If you don't know which account was first, contact support to check.
How many devices can I log in to at the same time?+
You can log in on unlimited devices. However, only the 5 most recently opened devices (3 for Free users) can connect normally. When you open the 6th device, the connection on one of the previous 5 devices will stop working.
How do I update UmiVPN?+
For non-store builds, tap "Check for updates" at the bottom of the Settings page to update automatically. For store builds, download the latest version from the store. If auto-update doesn't work, download from our website: https://www.umivpn.com/#downloads
Can I change the server assigned to me?+
Servers are assigned randomly and cannot be changed. Over time, the system will assign more servers to you.
How many regions are supported?+
New users are randomly assigned 1–3 regions, and the system gradually allocates more over time. Paid users usually get a dozen or so regions. Because of caching, you may not see them right after upgrading — tap the refresh button later to update the region list.
Why am I still a free user after paying?+
Please restart the client after payment. Many users enter the wrong email at checkout. If that caused the upgrade to fail, contact support to correct the email — we will handle it within 24 hours.
Why is my connection slow?+
Restarting the VPN may help. If your Wi-Fi network does not support IPv6, we recommend contacting your ISP to enable IPv6, because IPv6 nodes are faster than IPv4 nodes.
Why does the client suddenly crash?+
Most likely your data has run out, or the selected location is unavailable. Please change your location and try again.
Is UmiVPN free?+
Yes. Register an account to use the Free plan, which includes at least 2 GB of data per month and up to three devices at a time on all platforms.
Do you keep logs of my browsing activity?+
No. UmiVPN follows a strict no-log policy. We do not record your network activity or browsing history.
Which platforms does UmiVPN support?+
UmiVPN is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. Download the app for your device from our download page.
How do I cancel my subscription?+
You can cancel anytime from your account page. Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period and will not renew.
Do you offer refunds?+
Subscription and one-time purchase fees are non-refundable, except where required by applicable law or app store policies.
Why can't I connect on Windows with TUN mode?+
TUN mode on Windows requires a system service. If you see a service error, follow our Install Windows Service guide, or switch inbound mode to System Proxy in settings.
Will you limit my speed?+
The Free plan has no speed limit. On the Air plan, some servers may throttle speed after you have used a large amount of traffic — thresholds and strategies differ by server. Other servers have no speed limit regardless of usage. Most Air users (more than 98%) will never encounter a speed limit.
